Dental hygiene

A healthy smile is built on a strong foundation of good oral hygiene. At St. Peter’s Dental Practice, we believe that prevention is key to maintaining long-term dental health.

Our dedicated hygiene services focus on keeping your teeth and gums in the best possible condition, helping you to avoid common issues such as tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath.

Regular hygiene appointments play a crucial role in removing plaque and tartar build-up that cannot be eliminated by brushing and flossing alone. Even with the best at-home oral care routine, hard-to-reach areas can accumulate harmful bacteria over time. Our experienced hygienists use gentle yet effective techniques to clean your teeth thoroughly, reducing the risk of gum inflammation and dental problems.

Gum Health and Fresh Breath

Gum health is an essential aspect of overall well-being. When gums become inflamed or infected, it can lead to conditions such as gingivitis and periodontal disease, which may cause discomfort, bleeding, and even tooth loss if left untreated. Our hygiene team is committed to educating patients on the best ways to care for their gums, offering tailored advice on brushing techniques, flossing, and the use of specialised dental products.

Fresh breath and a bright smile are key benefits of professional hygiene care. Stains from coffee, tea, and other lifestyle factors can be minimised with regular cleanings, leaving your teeth looking and feeling their best. A visit to our hygienists is not only about keeping your smile beautiful but also about ensuring the health of your mouth for years to come.

The Importance of Dental Hygiene

For those with existing dental work, such as implants, crowns, or bridges, hygiene care is even more important. Keeping these restorations clean and free of plaque helps to prolong their lifespan and maintain their functionality. Our team provides personalised advice on how to look after dental restorations, ensuring they remain in excellent condition.
